The Silverlight Gallery plug-in for MySlideShow allows you to create web slide shows with music from your slide show projects. Silverlight is a technology from Microsoft that helps you create rich web applications. Your slide shows can run on Windows and Mac OS. Our plug-in for MySlideShow v3 uses this technology to create slide shows which you can then upload on a website and play by a web browser.
Please download and install the plug-in. It will appear as the Tools | Silverlight Gallery menu in MySlideShow.
Silverlight Gallery window
Create a new slide show project or open an existing one. Then select the Tools | Silverlight Gallery menu. You can also place the plug-in button on the toolbar by the Help | Plug-ins menu. The Silverlight Gallery window contains the following tabs: General, Images and Thumbnails.
The General tab allows you to select the folder on the hard drive where you want to save your output gallery. By default, MySlideShow saves output web galleries to subfolders of "My Documents\My SlideShows\Silverlight". To open the output folder (if it's already created) in a Windows Explorer window, click on the folder path.
On the Image tab you can select the image size in pixels. If you select the "Crop sides to fill" option, the program will produce output images with exactly the size you set. If the option is not selected, the program will create images with the size that fits to your pixel size. You can select similar options for the thumbnail images on the Thumbnails tab. The "Crop sides to fill" option is especially useful if your source image files have different pixel resolution.
Gallery options
Output web slide shows are not the same as you get in the preview mode. The plug-in doesn't use all the project options. You can display the thumbnails at the bottom of the screen selecting the "Show Thumbnail Panel during slide show" option in the Project Settings window > General tab. To display the navigation buttons at the left of the thumbnail panel, select the "Show navigation panel" checkbox in the "Customize Thumbnail Panel" window. To display a separate toolbar with the navigation buttons and change its position on the screen, use the "Navigation Bar" options in the Project Settings window > Advanced tab.
Saving on the local disk
To save an output web slide show on the hard drive, click Start. When the process has been completed, click Explore to open the output folder in Windows Explorer. Open the "index.htm" file by your web browser.
Publishing on the web
When you've created a web slide show, you may want to display (publish) it on the World Wide Web. Publishing a web slide show is basically copying the files to a destination, such as a web server, where others can browse the web.
You can use FTP (File Transfer Protocol) or some other ways to copy your output slide show. Create a new folder on your web server (web page) and copy the contents of the output folder (including all the subfolders) there. Then you can send the web link to the gallery to your partners and friends. The link may look like:
http://www.mywebserver.com/mygallery1/index.htm
where: mywebserver.com = your web server, mygallery1 = the folder on your web server, index.htm = the web page that the program created.
